  • INFLAMMATION RESEARCH:
As you have heard in earlier EHRS News there has to be a change in the way we publish our proceedings from our meetings. There is a committee working especially on this problem. The committee consists of many former publication secretaries and editors: Fred Pearce, Gill Sturman, Ekaterini Tiligada, Andras Falus and is chaired by Madeleine Ennis. The result and the recommendation will be put forward at the General Assembly Meeting in Durham for us all to vote upon.

  • WEBSITE:
The EHRS website is managed by Anna Gilicze, a student of Andras Falus, Hungary. The latest NEWS is regularly updated. Paul Chazot is still responsible for the scientific part of the website. New for this year is the addition of   HOT NEW PAPERS. You are all regularly requested to add interesting papers and short expert reviews.
If you have old programmes (or old pictures) at home lying around I am particularly interested to add information to our website about earlier meetings that we lack information about. Please tell me and send to me especially about the meetings: Seville 1997, Kuopio 1990 and any meeting between 1972 and 1979.

  • COST:
The EU supported COST project Action BM0806:: "Recent advances in histamine receptor H4R research" is now running for another three years. Many thanks to Ekaterini Tiligada and Paul Chazot for all the work during the last years to make this possible.

    1. First Workshop BioMedChem on Histamine H4 Receptor - New Compounds for Translational Steps of the Working Group-4 "Therapeutic potential of the H4R and the new compounds" was taken place on October 6, 2009, at the Goethe-University in Frankfurt.

  • Report from EPHAR 2008:

Paul Chazot reports: “The EPHAR symposium (Manchester University, July 2008) entitled "The H3 and H4 histamine receptors: the antihistamine targets for the 21st century" organised by the EHRS was a great success attracting over 60 attendees, with many from the Pharmaceutical industry in attendance. Based on the success of the symposium, a special Themed Edition of the British Journal of Pharmacology on histamine pharmacology was published in May 2009, with the Editor and many of the contributors from the EHRS. Furthermore, the British Pharmacological Society will be hosting a follow-up histamine pharmacology symposium, proposed by the EHRS, on the 17th December 2009 in London. Speakers are all EHRS members from all over the world & everyone is most welcome to attend. After the symposium, we will be holding a COST BM0806 Working group 1 meeting; please contact Andras Falus or ourselves if you require further information on these events.” Organisers: Paul L Chazot & Katerina Tiligada

  • Report from COST ACTION BM0806:   Recent advances in histamine receptor H4R research.
Katerina Tiligada who is in charge of this reports:
“I would say that it was a very challenging and rewarding endeavor. The support of Paul and of many members of the EHRS was invaluable and I would really like to thank everybody that contributed to this task. Following a number of evaluation steps, where a large number of extremely competitive projects competed for approval, our proposal on this very timely topic of histamine research was ranked among the top three proposals that were approved by the COST Biomedical Sciences Domain. This was certainly rewarding both for myself, who defended the proposal through to the end and for all "histaminologists" who perform research on this very interesting and promising topic. I hope and wish that all members remain enthusiastic so to drive the Action towards beneficial end-points.” There is an active website where we all can follow the COST action. Please have a look. www.histamineresearch.com

  • PROCEEDINGS of the EHRS Fulda meeting:

The proceedings of the meeting will be published in the journal Inflammation Research I encourage all participants of the meeting to send in their papers for publication. Instructions for this you find on the meeting website http://www.ehrs-2009.de. Please notice deadline for submitting papers is June 15.

  • ASKING FOR PICTURES:

I would like to ask those present at the EHRS 2009 meeting in Fulda for photos. Have you any photos and in particular the bursary winners, Young Investigator Award Winners, Honorary Members and others. Please send them to me for the records and for possible exhibition on our website.

  • LIST OF MEMBERS:

Please let me know if you have changed or plan to change address or E-mail address so we can have an updated list of all members. Also if you know of any Histamine colleague that has changed address please let me know. Anita.Sydbom@ki.se

  • NEXT MEETING:

Our next meeting will be in Durham, England, 21-25 April 2010, and arranged by Paul Chazot. The website for this meeting will be active soon. The first announcement leaflet for this meeting in Durham can be found here in PDF format (55 KB).
